Well and truely worth the money! Dec 29, 2008 I am writing this as I am getting ready to purchase a replacement for my 4 year old set. I work from home, during which time I listen to Pandora Internet Radio and then, for my roommates sake, watch TV with them. The long standing joke to determine if I am home is to find the headphones. However, for the hundredth time I left my 4 year old pair on the sofa and they got sat on(again), cracking the plastic on the right ear just above the cup. They still work, except that the right ear doesn't fit snugly.
Testaments to durability:
a. These survived two years in a dorm room (need I say more)...
b. On more than one occasion the cord got stuck or under foot and yanked the headphones off my head onto my stone floor.
Issues:
a. Recently I have to flick the volume control to get the left channel to come on but I live in Florida (the salt air corrodes everything).
b. The ear cups have flaked past the point I thought they could flake and then some, leaving little black pieces around the ears.
c. After listening for a while the lack of air flow makes the ear cups hot and stuffy (but you get used to it).
d. They are quite when used with portable devices.
Pros:
a. Sound great from day one till now!
b. The long cord is perfect for my purposes (I can even get up while watching tv and turn on the fan without removing headphones, love it)
c. The volume control is convent to have on the headphones
d. They fit my big head comfortably and would probably do the same for my cat, the adjustablilty is extreme
e. The headphones are light-enough
Hope this helps, best regards!
Excellent Headphones Jul 14, 2008 Great sound, pair them with the Turtle Beach AudioAdvantage USB sound card. The headphones have very deep bass, great clarity. Quality does compare to Bose, under one condition, you BYPASS THE POTENTIOMETER!!!!
The volume knob crapped out after about a year, and I knew the headphones were still good. I pulled the volume control out of the headphones, and they are amazing.
I can (even though it's not good for my hearing) crank the bass up, and actually have these vibrate on my head with the beat, without any distortion.
Crack the plastic, look at the wires on the volume control, pull the volume control out, solder the wires together with their corresponding colors. Coat the solder with liquid electrical tape. Then put the plastic back on, leaving the gromits on the cables, this keeps them durable. Cover the plastic with Heat Shrink tubing to make it look nice again.
Pro's: Excellent sound quality, nice long cable
Con's: Volume Control has to be bypassed
I've had them for 2 years, and i've given them quite a beating, even with a Alesis MultiMix firewire sound card (which has a very nice headphone amplifier for studio recording) and they handle it very well, I've compared them to Bose and Shure headphones, and they are right up there.
All-Around Quality Jul 12, 2007 I've had two pairs of this model. This is an excellent purchase for the price. The headphones offer great sound and distinctive bass. The 16 foot cord comes in useful at times. One disadvantage would be that the in-line volume control begins to fail after EXTREMELY PROLONGED use. I had my first pair for at least 4 years before I experienced any sort of problems.
You get what you pay for Jul 05, 2007 These headphones are okay. The sound is good and I love the option of changing the volume right on the cord. The only draw back was major for me; they don't work with my eye glasses.

When Good Headphones Go Bad May 31, 2007 I bought these almost 3 years ago and they were wonderful; as good as any I've ever had -- good price, too. Then the in-line volume control started messing up and I ended up throwing them away. Don't waste your money on the possibility that that the volume control won't fail.
